Elkwood is a senior community with 69 residential units, including 52 units for assisted living, 11 for Alzheimer's care and six for independent living. Built on a 20-acre site in Elk City, Oklahoma, this modern community consists of five buildings on the north 4.4 acres of the property. The original assisted living community was completed in 2001. A memory care unit was added in 2002, and three duplexes for independent living were built in 2003.
Residents in assisted living have access to a library/study, an activity center, card and game areas, an indoor aquatic center with hot tub and pool, a fitness center, a massage room, a beauty/barber shop, a common dining room, a private dining room, a coffee center, a great room, an enclosed courtyard and an above-ground safe room. The duplex townhouses feature two bedrooms, two bathrooms, spacious living and dining areas, full kitchens, laundries, and two-car garages.
A lively town of 10,000 located 112 miles west of Oklahoma City on historic Route 66, Elk City offers a variety of local attractions, including the National Route 66 Museum. Also located along Route 66 adjacent to the Old Town Complex, Ackley Park features miniature golf, train rides, an aquatic center, a baseball park, tennis and sand volleyball courts, a carousel and more. Great Plains Regional Medical Center is close by and there are plenty of restaurants, shops and churches.
